Syfy Sets Premiere Dates For ‘Defiance’, ‘Dominion’, ‘Dark Matter’ & ‘Killjoys’

Defiance - Irisa & Nolan (2)This summer, Syfy will be showing the fruits of their recent aggressive push back into scripted.

The network has unveiled their summer schedule which includes four original drama series: the third season of Defiance; the second season of Dominion; new sci-fi series Dark Matter, from Stargate’s Paul Mullie and Joseph Mallozzi; and Killjoys, starring Warehouse 13 alum Aaron Ashmore.

Up first is the third season of Defiance, which premieres on Friday June 12th at 8/7c. The new season opens on the eve of an impending military siege – and the surprise arrival of the mysterious and nearly extinct Omec, an alien race of warriors. New cast additions include Lee Tergesen (The Americans), Nichole Galicia (Django Unchained) and Conrad Coates (The Strain).

Dark Matter, based on Paul Mullie and Joseph Mallozzi’s graphic novel, launches that same night, on Friday June 12th at 10/9c. The series follows the crew of a derelict spaceship who awake with no memories of who they are or how they got there. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage fueled by vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets. The cast includes Melissa O’Neil, Marc Bendavid, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr., Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer.

Killjoys premieres the following week on Friday June 19th at 9/8c. From Lost Girl creator Michelle Lovretta and indie Temple Street Productions, Killjoys follows a fun-loving, hard living trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multi-planetary class war. The series stars Hannah John-Kamen (Black Mirror), Luke Macfarlane (Brothers & Sisters) and Aaron Ashmore (Warehouse 13).

Finally, the second season of post-apocalyptic drama Dominion will kick off on Thursday July 9th at 10/9c. The second season of Dominion picks up as humanity continues its struggle against the archangel Gabriel and his army of angels. Alex journeys from Vega to the legendary city of New Delphi, a human enclave with a dark secret, hoping to secure a military alliance with its charismatic leader.
