The fifth season of AMC’s zombie drama The Walking Dead will premiere on Spike UK on Friday May 1st at 9pm with a double-bill, it has been announced.
Based on the graphic novel series by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead follows a group of people, led by deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes, who are attempting to survive after an outbreak has led to the rise of the undead (known colloquially as walkers). The drama series stars Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan. David Morrissey and Danai Gurira.
The show’s 16 episode fifth season is expected to pick up from the season four finale which saw Rick and co outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in a train car awaiting a grim fate. Speaking at SDCC 2014, AMC President Charlie Collier said: “From the opening tease in the premiere onward, season 5 is without question the most ambitious and satisfying season this amazing team has ever crafted.”
