The tale of American Revolutionary War is crossing the pond.
History UK has closed a deal with A+E Studios International to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to miniseries Sons Of Liberty, which tells the story of the American Revolutionary War and features a cast that includes Breaking Bad‘s Dean Norris. The six-hour mini will premiere on History UK this June.
Sons of Liberty follows a defiant and radical group of young men – Sam Adams, John Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock and Joseph Warren – as they band together in secrecy to change the course of history and make America a nation. Calling themselves the Sons of Liberty, they light the spark that ignited a revolution. They were looking for equality, but they found something greater: Independence.
Stephen David and David C. White penned the scripts for the miniseries, which was produced by Stephen David Entertainment & A+E Studios. Sons Of Liberty features a large cast which includes Ben Barnes, Ryan Eggold, Michael Raymond James, Rafe Spall, Henry Thomas, Marton Csokas, Emily Berrington and Dean Norris.
Sons Of Liberty marks the latest high profile scripted acquisition for History UK. The A+E Networks UK owned and operated channel started pursuing first run US drama in 2014 with the acquisition of Vikings. They recently followed up on that by acquiring the linear broadcast rights to Starz’s pirate drama Black Sails, which is set to premiere on History UK this Summer.
