Sawyer Sweeten, who starred in all nine seasons of CBS’ Everybody Loves Raymond, died on Thursday. He was 19.
As first reported by Radar Online, the young actor is believed to have been visiting family in Texas when he committed suicide on the front porch. The news was confirmed by Sawer Sweeten’s long-time manager Dino May.
“This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life”, Madylin Sweeten said in a statement. “He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.”
Sawyer Sweeten played the part of Geoffrey Barone on 139 episodes of the CBS sitcom alongside his real life brother and sister Sullivan and Madyln, who played his on-screen siblings. Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, Brad Garrett, Doris Roberts, Peter Boyle and Monica Horan also starred in the series which ran from 1996 to 2005.
