E4 Greenlights 'Aliens' From 'Misfits' Indie Clerkenwell Films – TVWise

E4 has given the greenlight to Aliens, a six episode comedy drama which hails from In The Flesh scribe Fintan Ryan and Misfits producers Clerkenwell Films.
Aliens is set in a world where Aliens live among us and have for forty years. They are forced to live behind a huge wall in a in a segregated community called Troy. But when mild-mannered human Lewis, a border control guard at the wall’s check-point, discovers that he is half-alien, his secret threatens to turn his world upside down as he is drawn into the dark underbelly of Troy.
Fintan Ryan created Aliens and is penning the scripts for the six episode series, which is set up at indie Clerkenwell Films. Charlie Leech serves as the series producer, while Petra Fried, Matt Jarvis and Murray Ferguson will executive produce. Production is set to commence later this year for a 2016 premiere.
“Scabrously funny, shockingly violent and at times positively hallucinogenic, Aliens is a wry and riotous adventure into a world that is at once entirely familiar and absolutely strange”, said Channel 4’s Roberto Troni, who commissioned the series alongside Head of Drama Piers Wenger. “It’s a culture clash, a gangster epic, but fundamentally it is an all too human search for acceptance and identity.”
Channel 4’s youth skewing E4 has been busy in the past 24 hours. Earlier today they picked up comedy drama project Tripped to series with a 4 episode order, after retooling the original pilot (which was working under the title Alt); and they also announced a multi-year deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution which gave them the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to Fox’s ratings juggernaut Empire.
