FXX is sticking with their latest original comedy series.
The network has renewed the Jay Baruchel fronted Man Seeking Woman for a ten episode second season which is set to air in 2016, TVWise has learned.
Created by Simon Rich, Man Seeking Woman follows naïve twenty-something “Josh Greenberg” (Baruchel) on his unrelenting quest for love. Josh soldiers through one-night stands, painful break-ups, a blind date with a troll, time travel, sex aliens, many deaths and a Japanese penis monster named Tanaka on his fantastical journey to find love.
The comedy series, which is based on Rich’s book of short stories titled The Last Girlfriend On Earth, is produced by FX Productions and in addition to Baruchel also stars Eric André (Don’t Trust the B– in Apartment 23), Britt Lower (Unforgettable) and Maya Erskine (Betas).
The second season order for Man Seeking Woman continues FX Networks’ streak of giving new series the time to find their audience – following in the foot steps of Married and You’re The Worst. After all Mann Seeking Woman had soft numbers in its initial run, with an average audience of below 300K viewers.
“Simon Rich has delivered an incredibly smart and original take on the search for love”, said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “Critics and fans alike have embraced his unique storytelling, Jon Krisel’s stunning visuals and the brilliant performances of Jay Baruchel, Eric André and the rest of the cast that has made Man Seeking Woman one of the best new comedies on television.”
