'The Walking Dead's David Morrissey Joins CBS' 'Extant' In Recurring Role – TVWise

The Walking Dead alum David Morrissey has signed on for a recurring role on the second season of CBS’ Halle Berry fronted summer thriller Extant, TVWise has learned.
Created by Mickey Fisher, Extant originally told the story of Molly Woods, an astronaut who returns after a year in outer space to discovers that she has been impregnated by an alien life-form. The series is produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin TV and stars Halle Berry, Pierce Gagnon, and Grace Gummer
David Morrissey, who is also prepping a remake of his BBC One series The Driver for Showtime, will play General Tobias Shepherd, the Head of the Global Security Commission who has a personal history with ISEA astronaut Molly Woods.
Extant is heading in a new direction for its second season and will move away from Molly’s work at the ISEA and instead focus on the search for her alien son who is threatening the human race. That new creative direction has prompted a number of changes to the cast.
Said changes include the exit of season one regulars Michael O’Neill and Hiroyuki Sanada and the addition of Supernatural‘s Jeffery Dean Morgan in the regular role of bounty hunter JD Richter. While Goran Visnjic and Camryn Manheim have been downgraded to recurring status and are expected to appear in a number of episodes at the start of season two.
