The third season of Fox’s Kevin Bacon fronted thriller series The Following will receive its UK premiere on Sky Atlantic on Saturday March 7th at 9pm, it has been announced.
Created by Kevin Williamson, The Following picks up shortly after notorious serial killer Joe Carroll escapes from death row and embarks on a new killing spree, the FBI calls former agent Ryan Hardy to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature. The drama series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and stars Kevin Bacon, James Purefoy, Shawn Ashmore, Jessica Stroup, Zuleikha Robinson and Sam Underwood.
The show’s third season picks up a year after the season two finale, when a series of horrific murders rocks New York, sending its residents into a state of fear and paranoia, and the entire city into lockdown. With Ryan’s (Bacon) arch-nemesis, manipulative serial killer Joe Carroll (Purefoy), on death row, and familiar faces – including psychopath Mark (Underwood) – appearing in the most unexpected ways, begins to suspect that his greatest enemy, the man responsible for an endless list of atrocities, may not be the biggest foe he’ll face – in fact, Joe just might be a prelude to horror he’s never imagined.
