ITV’s Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) and Arsher Ali (The Guilty) fronted three-part drama Arthur & George will premiere on Monday March 2nd at 9pm, it has been announced.
Based on the book by Julian Barnes, Arthur & George is set in 1903 and tells the story of Conan Doyle (Martin Clunes) who, following the death of his first wife, recaptures his zest for life by attempting to overturn a miscarriage of justice which saw George Edalji (Arsher Ali) sentenced to seven years in Pentonville Prison for The Great Wyrley Rippings.
The three-part drama, which is being produced by Buffalo Pictures, was penned by Ed Whitmore and is being directed by Stuart Orme. In addition to Martin Clunes and Arsher Ali, Arthur & George also stars Hattie Morahan, Art Malik, Emma Fielding, Charles Edwards, Sandra Voe, Geraldine Alexander, Pearl Chanda, Hilary MacLean, Timothy Watson and Morfydd Clark.
