Fox has handed out a pilot order to Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life, a comedy from former Fox and Paramount executive Gail Berman and writer Jay Lacopo.
From 20th Century Fox Television and Berman’s The Jackal Group, Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life is a single camera comedy which celebrates the mistakes and misadventures we all make during the years after college, before settling down.
Jay Lacopo will pen the script for the single camera effort and will serve as an executive producer alongside Gail Berman. This marks Lacopo’s second stab at creating a broadcast comedy after his last pilot, 2008’s The Man Of Your Dreams didn’t go to series at NBC.
Meanwhile, this is the first sale that Berman has made since signing a joint venture agreement with Fox to form production company The Jackal Group. Berman’s most recent gig was at BermanBraun, where she produced such projects as Alphas, Deception and Dig. Prior to that she held roles at Paramount, and Fox – where she was responsible for such shows as 24 and Firefly.
Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life is the latest half-hour project to get a pilot order at Fox. It joins a comedy slate which also includes 48 Hours ‘Til Monday, Fantasy Life, Detour, an untitled comedy starring John Stamos, and an untitled comedy from Friends With Better Lives creator Dana Klein.
