Daniel Henney Cast In CBS' Proposed 'Criminal Minds' Spin-Off – TVWise

Daniel Henney has joined the cast of CBS as-yet untitled Criminal Minds spin-off, which is being piloted as a planted episode of the original series.
From Criminal Minds showrunner Erica Messer, the new spin-off is set in a different division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and follows the exploits of an elite team which comes to the aid of American citizens who find themselves in trouble in foreign countries.
Daniel Henney will play Matt Simmons, an FBI Special Agent who is one of the profiler’s on the team. He is described as a former army brat and a “charming family man”. Henney’s previous television credits include Hawaii Five-0, Revolution and the A&E pilot Occult.
He is the fourth actor to board the spin-off and joins a cast which includes Gary Sinise (CSI: NY) as FBI Special Agent In Charge Jack Garrett, Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) as legal expert Ally Lambert, and Tyler James Williams (The Walking Dead) as tech analyst Monty.
The back-door pilot for the proposed Criminal Minds spin-off, which is set up at original series producers The Mark Gordon Company, ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios, is set to begin production this month and will air on CBS later this year.
