Channel 4 is getting back into business with Graham Linehan.
The broadcaster has handed out a pilot order to The Cloud, a new comedy from the Father Ted and The IT Crowd creator and Adam Buxton (The Persuasionists), TVWise has learned.
The Cloud is set on board Cloud Station 13, a data-hub in orbit which protects the vast amounts of information the human population now hoards on its endless devices. The disparate group who man the hub are anything but technical whizzes, which would matter less if technology was a little more reliable.
The comedy, which was commissioned by Channel 4’s Deputy Head of Comedy Nerys Evans, has received a not-for-broadcast pilot order and is being penned by Graham Linehan and Adam Buxton. Linehan will also executive produce alongside Richard Boden, who is attached to direct.
In addition to co-writing the script, Adam Buxton will also star in the comedy, which is set to start filming later this Spring. Ashling Bea (Dead Boss, Trollied) and Jamie Demetriou (The Midnight Beast, Cockroaches) also star. C4 execs are expected to make a decision on whether or not to take The Cloud to series later this year.
