Jo Rowling is heading to Chile.
Spanish production and distribution company Imira Entertainment has sold the J.K. Rowling biopic Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story to Chilean broadcaster ChileVision, TVWise has learned.
Commissioned by US network Lifetime, Magic Beyond Words tells the story of the famous British author’s journey from a single mother on state benefits to publishing phenomenon and one of the world’s wealthiest women. The biopic originally aired on the female skewing network in 2011 and stars Poppy Montgomery, Emily Holmes, Janet Kidder, Paul McGillion and Antonio Cupo.
In addition to Magic Beyond Words, Imira has also lined up a raft of deal for their content across Latin America. The company has also sold the second season of Yoohoo & Friends with Cartoon Network Latin America; Vitaminix to Chilean broadcaster Novasur; the first season of Yoohoo & Friends to Mexican broadcaster Canal Once; and Horatio & The Plasticines to HITN, Mexico’s Canal Once, Señal Colombia and Ecuador TV – the latter of which has also acquired film The Living Forest.
This raft of deals, which also includes renewals of existing agreements for The Smurfs with UCV TV and Saari with Canal Once, comes just ahead of NATPE 2015 where, in addition to their existing slate, Imira will be shopping a range of its parent company Toonz Entertainment’s properties.
“Imira Entertainment is attending NATPE 2015 with incredible shows to offer, courtesy of both our partnership with Toonz and the strong catalogue of titles we have worldwide rights for”, said Sergi Reitg, CEO of Imira Entertainment. “We are proud to be working alongside market leaders across the industry and continuing to grow as a company building on our strength in Latin America.”
