Amazon has set a launch date for their first original drama series.
The e-commerce giant has announced that the complete ten episode first season of Bosch will premiere on Amazon Prime Instant Video in the United States, the UK and Germany on Friday February 13th.
Based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling Harry Bosch series and written by Eric Overmyer and Michael Connelly, Bosch follows the eponymous character, a relentless LAPD homicide detective as he pursues the killer of a 13-year-old boy while standing trial in federal court on accusations that he murdered a suspected serial killer in cold blood.
The hour-long drama was initially piloted last year and quickly earned a series order based on strong reviews from Prime members. Bosch stars Titus Welliver (Argo), Jamie Hector (The Wire), Amy Aquino (Being Human), Lance Reddick (Fringe), Annie Wersching (Extant), Sarah Clarke (24) and Jason Gedrick (Luck).
“We had a very strong response to the pilot from our customers and, after years of anticipation from the fan community, we are delighted to launch the complete first television season of Michael Connelly’s classic works of LA Noir,” said Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios.
“I am very pleased with season one,” commented Michael Connelly. “We have been extremely loyal to the character and city in the books. I think anybody who likes Harry Bosch on the page is going to like him on screen too. Titus Welliver is perfectly cast and viewers are going to be drawn to him whether they’ve read the books or not.”
While Henrik Pabst, Executive Producer and MD of Red Arrow International, added: “With its high production values, star-studded cast and huge fan base already established from the book franchise – Bosch will be the crime drama series of 2015!”
