M. Night Shyamalan’s 10 episode event series Wayward Pines will premiere in May.
The Matt Dillon fronted series will premiere on Fox in the United States on Thursday May 14th at 9/8c, followed by a day and date debut on Fox International Channels’ entertainment channels in more than 125 countries (including the UK), Fox Broadcasting Company and Fox International Channels announced today.
FIC has been trialling day-and-date releases for numerous high profile US series across their global footprint for the past few years – with notable examples being Dexter, Da Vinci’s Demons and The Walking Dead – but the rollout for Wayward Pines will be the world’s largest ever day-and-date launch for a scripted series.
Based on Blake Crouch’s best-selling novel Pines, Wayward Pines follows US Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Dillon) as he arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions.
The event series was one of the first that Fox green-lit when they re-entered the space last year. It features a large cast which, in addition to Matt Dillon, includes Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Toby Jones (The Hunger Games), Carla Gugino (Watchmen), Terrence Howard (The Butler) and Juliette Lewis (August: Osage County).
