Sean Bean lives!
TNT has renewed their Sean Bean fronted action series Legends for a 10 episode second season, TVWise has learned.
Based on the novel by Robert Littell, Legends follows Martin Odum, an undercover agent working for the FBI’s Deep Cover Operations (DCO) division who has the uncanny ability to transform himself into a completely different person for each job. The drama series is produced by Fox 21 and stars Sean Bean, Ali Larter, Rob Mayes, Tina Majorino, Steve Harris, Amber Valletta and Lux Haney Jardine.
Across its 10 episode first season, Legends averaged an L7 audience of 3.2 million viewers, though TNT noted that once other platforms, such as set top VOD and digital on-demand, are factored in the average audience for the show jumps to 6.5 million viewers.
With the second season pick up, TNT has made decisions on almost all of their original series. The network has previously renewed Major Crimes and Falling Skies; while they have also cancelled Dallas, Perception and Franklin & Bash. The only series still awaiting a decision is Rizzoli & Isles, though the series is expected to return for a sixth season.
TNT brass took some time to make a call on whether or not to renew Legends and as a result of that it is not immediately clear if the show will be able to enter production in time for a Summer 2015 debut. Series lead Sean Bean is already committed to ITV’s The Frankenstein Chronicles, production for which is slated to begin in January, and as such a late 2015 return for Legends is considered more likely.
