Meet the residents of Pagford.
BBC One has released a new series of first look images from their upcoming three-part adaptation of the JK Rowling novel The Casual Vacancy, which is being co-produced by US premium cable network HBO.
The Casual Vacancy centres on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war: rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils. The adaptation was penned by The Crimson Field Scribe Sarah Phelps, is being produced by Bronte Film and Television, the independent production company run by JK Rowling and Neil Blair, both of whom are serving as executive producers.
The three-part drama features an all star cast which includes Michael Gambon (Harry Potter), Keeley Hawes (Line of Duty), Julia McKenzie (Notes On A Scandal), Rufus Jones (W1A), Rory Kinnear (Penny Dreadful), Keeley Forsyth (Coronation Street), Abigail Lawrie, Monica Dolan (Sightseers), Simon McBurney (Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy), Richard Glover (A Field In England), Marie Critchley (In The Flesh) and Michelle Austin (Secrets & Lies).
The new images released today show Michael Gambon and Julia McKenzie as Howard and Shirley Mollison, Sonny Serkis and Joe Hurst as Paul and Arf Price, Keeley Hawes as Samantha Mollison, and Abigail Lawrie as Krystal Weedon. This new set of teaser images come after the BBC debuted the first image from the drama last month. It is expected to air on BBC One in the UK and HBO in the US in 2015.
