USA Network Expands 'DIG' To 10 Episodes – TVWise

USA Network has handed a 4 episode back order to DIG.
The event series, which hails from Heroes creator Tim Kring and Homeland‘s Gideon Raff, will now consist of 10 episodes. In addition to the increased order, USA Network has also announced that DIG will premiere on Thursday March 5th.
DIG follows FBI Special Agent Peter Connelly who is currently working in Jerusalem. While there, Connelly finds himself embroiled in a race to track down a religious artifact that could trigger an event that would change the course of history. During the search he becomes the suspect in a sensational murder.
The event series is produced by Universal Cable Productions & Tecumseh Productions and stars Jason Isaacs (Awake), Anne Heche (Save Me), Alison Sudol (A Fine Frenzy), Regina Taylor (The Unit), David Costabile (Breaking Bad), Omar Metwally (Non-Stop) and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under). The executive producers are Tim Kring, Gideon Raff, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun, Gene Stein and Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir.
It’s been something of a difficult road for DIG. The event series was developed by Israel’s Keshet Media and as such was to shoot on location in the country, however, shortly after the completion of the pilot, the on-going Gaza conflict forced the studio to relocate production to Croatia and New Mexico. The move also forced USA to delay the launch of the series, which had initially been set for Fall 2014.
“DIG is not only a major event series, it’s also a major event for our studio. Tim and Giddy, Gail and Avi have been spectacular partners who are creating a great show under extraordinary circumstances,” said Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “And it’s always a pleasure to work with the wonderful team at USA.”
While Chris McCumber, President of USA Network added: “We knew when we saw the exceptional pilot and immersed ourselves into the incredible world of intrigue that Tim and Gideon have created with DIG that we wanted more. With its multi-layered story, international locations, cinematic production andimmensely talented cast –DIG promises to be a must-watch event series.”
