TV Land’s new single camera comedy Younger will premiere on Tuesday January 13th at 10/9c, the network announced today.
Younger follows 40-year old Liza, a suddenly single mother who tries to get back into the working world, only to find it’s nearly impossible to start at the bottom at her age. When a chance encounter with a young guy at a bar convinces her she looks younger than she is, Liza tries to pass herself off as 26 – with the help of a makeover, courtesy of her best friend Maggie. Armed with new confidence, she lands a job as an assistant to the temperamental Diana and teams up with her new co-worker and 20-something Kelsey to make it in the career of her dreams. Now she just has to make sure no one finds out her secret.
The 10 episode series, which just entered production in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, hails from Sex and the City‘s Darren Star and is the network’s latest foray into the single camera format after initially testing the waters earlier this year with the Jaime Pressly fronted Jennifer Falls. Youngers stars Sutton Foster (Bunheads), Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire), Debi Mazar (Entourage), Miriam Shor (GCB) and Nico Tortorella (The Following).
“We are all excited about the premiere on January 13th,” said Larry W. Jones, President of TV Land “This show is sleek, alluring and all-around fantastic. The characters are funny and relatable, Darren is full of creativity and the sexy cast is bringing their A-game. The end of every script leaves us wanting more.”
