NBC has picked up a full season of freshman dramedy The Mysteries of Laura.
With the back nine order, which is the first such order that the peacock has handed out this season, the Debra Messing fronted procedural will produce 22 episodes for its first season.
Produced by Warner Bros. Television, The Mysteries of Laura stars Messing as NYPD homicide Det. Laura Diamond, who manages to balance her time between being a police officer and that of a harried mom with two unruly young boys. Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar and Max Jenkins also star.
The drama premiered back in September and has become something of a hit for NBC in it Wednesday night 8pm time-slot. It has been averaging 10.4 million viewers and a 1.8 A18-49 rating and is the only broadcast series this season to remain with 0.2 of its regular-slot debut.
“Debra has effortlessly infused Laura with a relatability that is captivating audiences,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. “We can’t wait to see how Laura will continue to evolve throughout the entire season.”
