Hallmark is sticking with their first original scripted series.
The network has picked up a third season of the Andie McDowell fronted drama Cedar Cove, TVWise has learned.
Based on the book series by Debbie Macomber, Cedar Cove is set in the picturesque town of Cedar Cove and follows Olivia Lockhart (Andie MacDowell), the revered Cedar Cove Municipal Court judge and lifetime town resident who is in an on-and-off again with Jack Griffith (Dylan Neal), the Editor of the town’s newspaper.
The show has been a big hit for Hallmark and currently ranks as the #1 Primetime Drama on Saturday Nights at 8 pm. It is produced by Orchard Road Production and, in addition to Andie MacDowell and Dylan Neal, also stars Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Corey Sevier, Paula Shaw, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven and Elyse Levesque.
“Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove has captivated millions of viewers week after week with emotional, riveting and poignant stories of romance, family and friendships in an idyllic seaside town,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President of Programming for Hallmark parent Crown Media Family. “It is not surprising that Cedar Cove ’is touching so many viewers, and we owe that success to our star Andie MacDowell and this phenomenal cast, as well as Debbie Macomber, and one of the best show runners in the business, Sue Tenney”.
Cedar Cove was Hallmarks first foray into original drama series, after they had been primarily focusing on TV movies. Since the successful launch of Cedar Cove in 2013, Halmmark has launched a further two original series – Signed, Sealed, Delivered and When Calls The Heart – with a third, The Good Witch starring JAG‘s Catherine Bell, currently in production.
