The CW is extending the runs of two of their freshman shows.
The network has handed full season orders to The Flash and Jane The Virgin, TVWise has learned. With the back nine orders, the freshman runs of both shows will now consist of 22 episodes.
The Flash follows Barry Allen, a scientist who, through a freak accident, is given the power of super speed that transforms him into the Fastest Man Alive.The drama series is being produced by Warner Bros. Television & Berlanti Productions and stars Grant Gustin, Rick Cosnett, Danielle Panabaker, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes.
Penned by Jennie Snyder Urman, Jane The Virgin picks up when a series of surprising and unforeseen events causes a hard-working, religious young Latina to be accidentally artificially inseminated. The series is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Gina Rodriguez, Ivonne Coll, Andrea Navedo, Jaime Camil, Brett Dier, Yael Grobglas, Justin Baldoni and Ryan Devlin.
The pickups come after both The Flash and Jane The Virgin have become fast hits for The CW. The Flash premiered to an L3 audience of more than 6 million viewers making it the most-watched series premiere ever on The CW; while Jane The Virgin debuted as the network’s most-watched and highest-rated show in its time period in two years.
