Christopher Eccleston (The Leftovers) Marsha Thomason (White Collar) and Paterson Joseph (Law & Order: UK) have been set as the leads in ITV’s four part thriller series Safe House, TVWise has learned.
Safe House is set in the lake district and tells the story of a married couple, Robert and Katy, who are asked by close friend and police officer Mark to turn their remote guest house into a safe house. Their first ‘guests’ at the Safe House, are a family in fear of their lives after they are violently attacked by someone who claims to know them.
Christopher Eccleston will play Robert, a former detective who finds that his time at the ‘safe house’ makes him question an incident from 18 months ago when a star witness he was protecting was killed; Marhsa Thomason has been cast as Katy, Roberts wife; and Paterson Joseph as Mark. Jason Merrells (Emmerdale), Nicola Stephenson (All At Sea), and Peter Ferdinando (Doctor Who) also star.
The four-parter, which is envisioned as a “potential returnable series”, is the first scripted project to be originated and developed by Eleventh Hour Films and was created by Michael Crompton. Marc Evans is directing Safe House, which just entered production for a 2015 premiere. The executive producers are Paula Cuddy and Jill Green.
Speaking at the time the series was commissioned, ITV’s Director of Drama Steve November and ITV’s Controller of Drama Victoria Fea said: “We’re delighted to commission Safe House from Jill Green and Eleventh Hour Films. It’s a compelling four-part drama from Michael Crompton with great characters and genuine twists which keep you guessing right to the end.”
