Amazon Prime Instant Video UK Snaps Up NBC's 'Constantine' – TVWise

NBC’s new DC Comics series Constantine has found a UK home.
Amazon Prime Instant Video UK has snapped up exclusive rights to the drama after striking a deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution, TVWise has learned. The pilot episode is now available to stream, while new episodes will be added every Saturday – less than 24 hours after their broadcast on NBC.
From Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, Constantine is based on the DC character and follows John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending the people against dark forces from beyond. Produced by Warner Bros. Television, the drama stars Matt Ryan, Lucy Griffiths, Charles Halford, Angélica Celaya and Harold Perrineau.
With this deal between Amazon UK and Warner Bros International Television Distribution, Constantine becomes only the second major US broadcast series that the streaming giant has acquired since they rebranded from LOVEFiLM last year. They previously struck a similar deal with CBS Studios International for the Halle Berry starrer Extant, which, like Constantine, was available to streamin within 24 hours of its US broadcast.
For Amazon Prime Instant Video UK, the show joins a strong line up of exclusive first run shows. In addition to Extant and numerous Amazon Studios shows – including Transparent and Alpha House – the streaming service is also the exclusive UK home to Crossing Lines, Black Sails and Vikings.
