ABC is expanding the orders of several of their hit shows.
The network has ordered two additional episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, The Goldbergs, The Middle, Modern Family and Black-ish – which has performed strongly in its time-slot behind Modern Family and recently earned a full season order. All four series will now produce 24 episodes for the 2014-2015 season.
Elsewhere, ABC has ordered an additional episode of Castle, brining the order for this season to 23 episodes. The move is a sign of confidence in the veteran series, which this year lost its crown as the reigning Monday night 10pm drama to NBC’s The Blacklist.
The network has also ordered an additional episode of Resurrection, which will now produce 14 episodes for its second season; and Once Upon A Time, which as executive producer Anthony Horowitz announced on Twitter, will air 23 episodes this season.
This is the latest round of additional episode orders that ABC has handed out this season. As noted above, the network previously granted a traditional back nine order to Black-ish and at the same time ordered a further two episodes of How To Get Away With Murder. The network has yet to decide on the fate of several freshman shows including Selfie and Forever.
