HBO has found two of their leading men for the second season of True Detective.
After months of speculation the premium cabler today confirmed that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will star in the second season of the Nic Pizzolatto created series.
True Detective is an anthology series which revolves around one police investigation each season. The show’s 8 episode second season follows three police officers and a career criminal who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.
Colin Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him; while Vince Vaughn stars as Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.
HBO said that they would announce further casting, such as the remaining two detectives, at a later date. Production on season two begins this Fall in California. Justin Lin is attached to direct the opening two episodes.
