HBO Sets Premiere Dates For 'The Newsroom', 'The Comeback' & 'Getting On' – TVWise

The final season of The Newsroom is coming to HBO this November, alongside the second seasons of The Comeback and Getting On, HBO announced today.
The network confirmed that the swan song of the Aaron Sorkin drama will consist of just 6 episodes and will premiere on Sunday November 9th at 9/8c. The final run of the series, which stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer & Sam Wateston and follows the employees of the cable news station, is understood to revolve around a whistleblower, with Reese declaring that he is going to be sent to jail. The plot point, it seems, will result in Will McAvoy offering his resignation.
The second season of The Comeback follows on Sunday November 9th at 10/9c. The series, starring Lisa Kudrow, as the embattled Valerie Cherish, a fading TV “It Girl” who was once so desperate to stay in the spotlight that she allowed cameras to follow her every move as she appeared on a new sitcom – with disastrous results. Now, it’s ten years later, and Valerie thinks she has it all figured out this time.
Rounding out HBO’s November premieres is the second season of Getting On, which launches on Sunday November 9th at 10:30/9:30c. Based on the UK series of the same name, the medical comedy follows the daily lives of nurses and doctors as they struggle with the darkly comic realities of caring for the elderly in an overwhelmed healthcare system, skewering the petty bureaucracies of modern medical practice in America. Getting On stars Laurie Metcalf, Alex Borstein, Niecy Nash and Mel Rodriguez.
