BBC Four’s new six episode comedy series Detectorists will premiere on Thursday October 2nd at 10pm, it has been announced.
Created by Mackenzie Crook, Detectorists follows Andy, a wannabe archaeologist who, alongside his friend Lance, spends time in muddy fields with a metal detector and a packed lunch, dreaming of finding that priceless Saxon hoard that will make them rich and cement their place in detecting history. But as they go off on their adventures, real life keeps getting in the way. They embark on a journey of greed, betrayal, rejection and redemption as they hurtle towards Danbury Metal Detecting Club’s greatest ever find. The series is produced by Channel X & Lola Entertainment and stars Mackenzie Crook (Almost Human), Toby Jones (Wayward Pines), Rachael Stirling (The Bletchley Circle), Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Luther) and Lucy Benjamin (EastEnders).
