The Sony Pictures Television backed indie Stellify Media is to produce an adaptation of the Dating Game format after securing their first commission from TV3.
Stellify Media has been commissioned by the Irish broadcaster to produce Blind Date, an 8 episode dating show presented by Lucy Kennedy which sees singletons attempting to meet their soul mate through a series of probing questions and daring challenges– all while separated by a wall. The dater then has to pick a singleton to go on a date with, which is filmed for the audience to see. The couple then return to the show the following week to tell all.
This new dating series, which is being produced in association with 3Studios, is set to air on TV3 later this year and marks the first commission for fledgling production company Stellify Media. The indie was set up by Kieran Doherty and Matt Worthy, both of whom are serving as executive producers on Blind Date, earlier this year and is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
“Securing our first commission just five months after launching Stellify Media is fantastic”, said Kieran Doherty Executive Producer and Stellify joint Managing-Director. “Blind Date (w/t) is exactly the type of entertainment programming we want to produce – a compelling mix of humour, love and jeopardy – making it unmissable viewing for the whole family.”
While Andrew Byrne, Head of Development & Formats and Executive Producer for TV3/3studios, added: “We are delighted to team up with Stellify Media on this exciting new production. We have been working on a number of new dating formats as part of our continued development of 3studios and when we were approached with The Dating Game format, it was simply too hard to resist! For us this is the ultimate global dating show and one that we can bring a unique Irish flavour to.”
