BSkyB’s international distribution division Sky Vision has inked first look deals with independent production companies ACME Films and Spark Media Partners, TVWise has learned.
ACME Films has a background in drama and factual programming and recently produced the Olivia Colman fronted four-part drama Run for Channel 4, which was in turn sold to Hulu in the US. Spark Media Partners was recently launched by former Zodiak executives Steve Havers & Mark Baker with a focus on formats.
The deals, which mark the first collaboration between the two indies and Sky, will see Sky Vision work with both ACME Films and Spark Media Partners to develop programming with broad international appeal. The distribution arm of the sat-caster would then handle global sales on the programmes emanating from this deal.
This is the latest such deal inked by Sky Vision in recent months to broaden the portfolio of content they are shopping on the global market. The company also has development deals in place with indies back2back productions and Roughcut TV. They will also handle distribution on Love Productions catalogue after BSkyB acquired a major stake in the Great British Bake Off indie.
“Both ACME Films and Spark Media Partners will add significantly to Sky Vision’s offering to the international market, with programmes of scale and quality”, said Barnaby Shingleton, Sky Vision’s Director of Entertainment & Factual. “
