Channel 5 Sets UK Premiere Date For ‘Wentworth Prison’ Season 2

The second season of Wentworth Prison (known simply as Wentworth in its native Australia) will receive its UK premiere on Channel 5 on Wednesday September 3rd at 10pm, it has been announced.

A reboot of Australian drama series Prisoner Cell Block H, Wentworth Prison is set in the violent dangerous environment of the Wentworth Correctional Centre and follows struggles with inmates and provides insights into their fractious personal lives. The series is produced by FremantleMedia Australia and stars Danielle Cormack, Nicole da Silva, Pamela Rabe, Kate Atkinson, Celia Ireland, Shareena Clanton, Katrina Milosevic, Aaron Jeffery, Will Jackson.

The show’s second season picks up three months after Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) killed Jacs Holt. While Bea has been languishing in the slot, Franky Doyle (Nicole da Silva) has risen to the position of top dog unopposed. But the sudden arrival of new governor Joan Ferguson is about to change all that. The series has already been renewed for a 12 episode third season by Foxtel’s SoHo channel in Australia.
