Argonon International has scored their first international sale for EVE.
The international distribution division of the super-indie has sold the upcoming 13 episode CBBC sci-fi drama series to HBO Latin America, TVWise has learned.
EVE follows the adventures of a robot living with a family in suburbia and trying to make sense of human life as a teenage girl. The sci-fi drama is being toplined by Poppy Lee Friar and also stars Jane Asher as genius scientist Mary Douglas.
The CBBC effort was created by Emma Reeves and David Chikwe and is being produced by the Argonon owned Leopard Drama. The indie’s Head of Development Jez Swimer and Peter Gallagher are producing, while Sue Nott and Ruth Caleb are serving as the executive producers.
This deal with HBO Latin America marks the first international sale that Argonon International has lined up for EVE. While the 13 episode series, which was commissioned by CBBC Controller Cheryl Taylor, is Leopard Drama’s first foray into children’s drama, the indie has previously produced successful children’s television series such as Trade Your Way to the USA.
“Striking this deal with HBO Latin America underlines the quality and international appeal of Eve”, said Lynn Lugsden, Argonon International’s Head of Sales. “This modern-day twist on a timeless teenage theme will resonate with younger viewers across the world. We look forward to announcing further deals in the coming months.”
