Sony Entertainment Television Picks Up UK Rights To ‘Hot In Cleveland’ Season 5, Sets August 11th Premiere

Sony Entertainment Television has picked up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the fifth season of TV Land’s comedy series Hot In Cleveland, TVWise has learned.

Created by Suzanne Martin, Hot In Cleveland revolves around three best friends from the LA entertainment industry whose lives are changed forever when their plane, which was headed for Paris, unexpectedly lands in Cleveland. Finding themselves in this new promised land and loving their new home, the women find themselves living under one roof and battling the sassy caretaker of the property they have rented. The series was recently renewed for a sixth season and stars Betty White, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Valerie Bertinelli.

The show’s fifth season, which will receive its UK premiere on Sony Entertainment Television on Monday August 11th at 11pm with a double-bill, kicks off with an episode which aired live in the United States. In that episode, Victoria’s husband, Emmet, escapes prison, and Victoria and the other women go to a hideout that Elka knows. But when they arrive, they discover the hideout is double-booked with other criminals.

Hot In Cleveland has been a staple of Sony Entertainment Television’s schedule since August 2012, when they poached the show from Sky Living, who initially aired the first two seasons of the Betty White fronted comedy in the UK. It is one of two of the SPT backed broadcaster’s first run scripted series, with the other being the former NBC Community, which is moving to Yahoo Screen for its sixth season.
