Muse Entertainment and Sonar Entertainment have teamed together for The Fixer, a four-hour miniseries which is being toplined by Eric Dane (The Last Ship) and Kathleen Robertson (Murder In The First).
The Fixer follows NTSB investigator Ellie Molaro (Robertson) who, suspicious of the “official answers” to an oil rig disaster, spearheads a private investigation with a secret tipster named Carter (Dane). Carter claims that a conspiracy of “Fixers” are behind the worst disasters in the country, all rigged to manipulate the stock market, and reap billions for a select few. Now, their largest operation in decades is an impending, catastrophic event targeting Washington, D.C. and the only way they can succeed is if Ellie and Carter are among the casualties.
Muse Entertainment – the Canadian production company behind such efforts as Syfy’s adaptation of Being Human and the History-turned-ReelzChannel mini The Kennedys – is producing The Fixer, which has now begun filming in Montreal. Being Human‘s Gilles Perrault is the producer, while Johnny English helmer Peter Howitt is attached to direct. The executive producers are Irene Litinsky, Michael Prupas, Gene Stein and Christina O’Shea-Daly. Muse Distribution International will handle distribution in Canada; while Sonar will package the mini for the global market, with plans to launch The Fixer at MIPCOM.
This marks a reunion of sorts for Muse Entertainment and Sonar Entertainment, with the two companies having previously worked together on the miniseries Cat 8. That mini starred Matthew Modine and told the story of a government outsider and renegade scientist, who is called upon to reverse a cataclysmic disaster when a breakthrough in global defense backfires. Sonar Entertainment handled global sales on Cat 8 and secured sales with Reelz in the US and Syfy in the UK.
