IFC has picked up The Spoils Before Dying, a six episode mini-series from Funny Or Die and executive producer Will Ferrell.
The Spoils Before Dying will take viewers into the seedy underbelly of the 1950s jazz scene. The six episode mini-series follows a jazz-pianist turned private eye who becomes embroiled in a murder investigation that spins out of control and leads him down paths – romantic and otherwise – he never expected.
The six episode mini-series is a follow up to IFC’s The Spoils of Babylon, which aired earlier this year, and the newest entry into the “Spoils franchise”. Will Ferrell will return as writer Eric Jonrosh, while IFC said that The Spoils Before Dying will feature a “star cast”.
Funny Or Die will again produce, with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele and Nate Young serving as executive producers. Matt Piedmont and Andrew Steele will also write the new mini, with Piedmont also attached to direct.
“With IFC’s renewed partnership with Funny or Die, Eric Jonrosh and his most-prized works will continue to entertain and enthrall audiences for generations to come,” said Jennifer Caserta, President of IFC.
