E4 has closed a deal to acquire the first season of ABC Family’s comedy series Melissa & Joey, TVWise has learned.
Melissa & Joey follows local politician and former wild child Mel Burke who employs down on his luck “manny” Joe Longo as she raises her teenaged niece and nephew.
The ABC Family series, which has been picked up for a fourth season, was created by David Kendall & Bob Young and stars Melissa Joan Hart, Joey Lawrence, Taylor Spreitler and Nick Robinson.
The show’s first season runs a longer-than-typical length of 30 episodes, which was split in two parts when its first aired state-side, and will air daily on E4 from Monday July 28th at 3pm, with double-bills. The show’s first two season have been available for purchase on iTunes since November 2013.
Melissa & Joey is the latest acquisition for E4 in recent weeks and follows on from their deal with BBC Worldwide to acquire BBC America’s comedy series Almost Royal.
