Starz Inks UK Digital Deal For 'Power' – TVWise

Starz’s new drama series Power will be available for purchase in the UK on a variety of digital platforms – including Play, iTunes, Sony Entertainment Network, and Xbox Video – shortly after episodes air in the United States.
Power tells the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a wealthy New York City nightclub owner who caters to the city’s elite. He wants to build an empire, turn the club into a Fortune 500 business, but there’s just one problem: Ghost is living a double life. When he is not in the club, he is the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York for a very high-level clientele. His marriage, family and business all become unknowingly threatened as he is tempted to leave his criminal life behind and become the rags-to-riches businessman he wants to be most of all.
The drama series was created by The Good Wife producer Courtney Kemp Agboh and is being produced by CBS Television Studios. The show’s 8 episode first season stars Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Joseph Sikora, Adam Huss, Andy Bean, Sinqua Walls, Enrique Murciano, Luis Antonio Ramos, La La Anthony and Diane Neal.
The digital deal, which was inked by Starz Digital Media, will see episodes of Power made available to UK customer on Mondays, following the premiere of new episodes on Starz in the US on Saturday nights. The DTO deal is significant as the drama series has yet to be acquired by a linear broadcaster in the UK.
“Enthusiasm from our digital partners in the United Kingdom for the latest STARZ Original series, ‘Power,’ led us to give UK fans a unique opportunity to purchase episodes the next business day after their respective worldwide premieres,” said Mara Winokur, Senior Vice President of Digital at Starz Digital Media.
