Sky1 Orders Family Holiday Factual Entertainment Series – TVWise

Sky1 has given the green-light to The Sun Set, an 8 episode factual entertainment series “about the great family holiday” from TwoFour and GroupM Entertainment.
The Sun Set follows a variety of British and Irish families as they holiday together in a luxurious European villa complex, which has been rigged with cameras. Each episode will feature a new set of British & Irish families and will reveal a rich mix of stories about the families involved,
The TwoFour and GroupM co-production marks Sky1’s first ever fixed-rig series and is being eyed to air in an 8pm time-slot, which Sky1 Director Adam Macdonald recently highlighted as a priority. The executive producers are David Clews, Richard Marson and Melanie Darlaston.
“Families in all their diversity are central to what we’re doing on Sky 1”, said Sky1 Director Adam Macdonald. “The annual family holiday is always one to remember – with moments of joy, laughter, playfulness and often, sheer embarrassment, so we can’t wait for our customers to slap on the factor 30 and come join us.”
While Sky1’s Commissioning Editor Chris Wilson, added: “The family holiday is a universal part of British & Irish family life, yet in terms of factual television, it’s disappeared off our screens. We’re delighted to be working with Twofour and GroupM Entertainment to rectify that, and to celebrate, and re-examine, with forensic detail, this joyous aspect of family life.”
