Rosario Dawson has joined the cast of Netflix upcoming 13 episode drama series Daredevil, which hails from Drew Goddard, Steven S. DeKnight, Marvel and ABC Studios.
Daredevil follows Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses and fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
Rosario Dawson will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.
The acclaimed actress, whose previous credits include Sin City and Clerks II, joins a cast which is being led by Boardwalk Empire’s Charlie Cox, who is playing Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Vincent D’Onofrio also recently boarded the series as Wilson Fisk.
Daredevil is being produced for Netflix by Marvel and ABC Studios and has Steven S. DeKnight attached as showrunner, replacing former showrunner Drew Goddard. Goddard penned the opening two episodes and executive produces alongside DeKnight and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb.
“Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil,’” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”
