Channel 4 has given the green-light to Catastrophe, a six episode comedy series which hails from Rob Delaney, Sharon Horgan and Avalon Television.
Catastrophe is a single camera comedy which follows an Irish woman (Sharon Horgan) and an American man (Rob Delaney) who make a bloody mess as they struggle to fall in love in London. The series order for the project comes after Catastrophe initially scored a pilot order at Channel 4 back in December 2013.
In addition to starring, Delaney and Horgan will also pen the comedy series, which was commissioned by Phil Clarke, Channel 4’s Head of Comedy. Avalon Television is producing with Richard Allen-Turner, Kara Baker and Jon Thoday serving as executive producers. Ben Taylor is attached to direct the comedy, which enters production this Autumn.
“Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney are two unique, and supremely talented comic writers and performers, and they have come together to make a notably outstanding pilot”, said Phil Clarke. “The result is an original and joyous transatlantic romantic comedy, and I’m delighted that we are now going to series.”
While Jon Thoday, Joint Managing Director of Avalon Television, added: “We are delighted to be producing another exciting new narrative project with Channel 4 and working with two brilliant original comic talents.”
