CBS has unveiled their premiere date plans for the fall season, which consists of a staggered roll out beginning on September 11th with NFL Thursday Night Football.
Following the September 11th debut for NFL, The Good Wife, new drama Madam Secretary and 60 Minutes kick off their new seasons on Sunday September 21st. Beyond that, most of the network’s series will, as expected, kick off their new seasons during the traditional premiere week in mid-to-late September.
The Big Bang Theory begins its short tenure on Monday nights with double-episodes on September 22nd, along with new series Scorpion. Tuesday September 23rd sees the seasons premieres of NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans and Person of Interest; while Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods will debut on Friday September 26th, with the 15th season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation following on Sunday September 28th.
CBS will then stagger the launch of several shows, such as NCIS: Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, Mom and 2 Broke Girls, throughout late September and October. Then on October 30th, once NFL has vacated the schedule, The Big Bang Theory will return to its usual Thursday night 8 pm time-slot, leading into The Millers, Two And A Half Men, new comedy The McCarthys and Elementary.
“The addition of Thursday Night Football provides the flexibility to strategically roll out our fall season in multiple waves, maximizing promotional platforms and scheduling opportunities to give our new and returning series the best possible launch,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman of CBS Entertainment.
