Zeljko Ivanek Upped To Series Regular On CBS' 'Madam Secretary' – TVWise

Zeljko Ivanek has promoted to series regular status on CBS upcoming Fall drama series Madam Secretary.
Penned by Barbara Hall, Madam Secretary follows the personal and professional life of a maverick female Secretary of State as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life. The drama is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Tea Leoni, Tim Daly, Bebe Neuwirth, Erich Bergen, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Evan Roe and Katherine Herzer. The executive producers are Hall, Morgan Freeman, Tracy Mercer and Lori McCreary.
Zeljko Ivanek was a guest star in the pilot, playing the part of the White House Chief of Staff who also serves as a nemeses to Tea Leoni’s Secretary Elizabeth McCord. He is an established actor who has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in television. Ivanek’s more prominent roles have included ASA Ed Danvers on Homicide: Life On The Street, Andre Drazen on the first season of 24, Ray Fiske on Damages, Director of National Intelligence Blake Sterling on The Event and more recently Racine on Cinemax’s Banshee.
The news of Zeljko Ivanek being promoted to regular status, which was first reported by Deadline. comes shortly after CBS handed a series order to the drama which has been described as a “favourite” of President of CBS Entertainment Chief Nina Tassler. Madam Secretary is viewed as a perfect companion series to The Good Wife, with the two being paired together on Sunday nights on CBS’ Fall 2014-2015 schedule.
