Lauren Ambrose has joined the cast of USA Network’s six episode event series DIG.
Ambrose, arguably best known for her role on Six Feet Under, will play Debbie, a dedicated follower of evangelist Ted Billingham (David Costabile). She spends most of her time looking after fellow disciple 13-year-old Josh (Zen McGrath), but when Josh suddenly disappears, Debbie begins to question the beliefs and choices that have led her to this isolated place.
Lauren Ambrose, repped by UTA, is the latest actor to board the USA Network event series. The cast is being led by Awake alum Jason Isaacs and also includes Anne Heche (Save Me), Alison Sudol (A Fine Frenzy), Regina Taylor (The Unit), David Costabile (Breaking Bad) and Omar Metwally (“Non-Stop”).
DIG follows FBI Special Agent Peter Connelly (Isaacs) who is currently working in Jerusalem. While there, Connelly finds himself embroiled in a race to track down a religious artifact that could trigger an event that would change the course of history. During the search he becomes the suspect in a sensational murder.
The six episode series is the USA Network’s most recent event series, following on from 2012′s Political Animals, which starred Sigourney Weaver. DIG was developed by Keshet Media, with Universal Cable Productions and Tecumseh Productions producing. The executive producers are Tim Kring, Gideon Raff, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun, Gene Stein and Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir.
