HBO Orders Comedy Series 'Vice Principals' From Danny McBride & Jody Hill – TVWise

HBO has given the green-light to Vice Principals, a new comedy from Jody Hill and Danny McBride.
Vice Principals tells the story of a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals. The series was created by McBride and Hill, both of whom created Eastbound & Down, which starred McBride and ran for four season on HBO before concluding its run in 2013
The comedy, which will be produced in house by HBO Originals, has received an order for 18 episodes, which the network said was likely to be split into multiple seasons. The executive producers are Danny McBride, Jody Hill, David Gordon Green and Stephanie Laing.
“Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of,” said Michael Lombardo, President of HBO Programming. “The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible.”
Danny McBride commented “HBO was the perfect creative family for ‘Eastbound & Down,’ and we’re excited to pack up the van for the next adventure.”
While Executive Producer David Gordon Green added: “When the idea for the new series became too crazy to keep to ourselves, we knew HBO was the perfect place to unleash it.”
