International distributor DCD Rights has signed a pact with Popkorn Television to acquire distribution rights to a slate of factual programming produced by the UK indie. DCD Rights plans to launch five such factual titles at MIPTV in Cannes next month.
The five titles being launched at MIPTV are The Lost Orphan: Mirela’s Story, follow up The Lost Orphan: A Home for Mirela, My Violent Child, London: The Inside Story and Motorway Madness. Popkorn Television, formed in in 2009 by award-winning film maker Rory Wheeler and film editor Colin Moxon, produced all five documentaries for the UK’s free-to-air broadcaster Channel 5.

Rory and Colin have been very successful in building a highly experienced and dedicated team at Popkorn, which is reflected in the thought-provoking and entertaining titles they produce”, said Nicky Davies Williams, CEO of DCD Rights. “There is strong demand in the international marketplace for intelligent and high-quality documentaries for primetime schedules and we’re looking forward to showcasing this exciting slate of titles at MIP-TV in April.”
