John Shea (Gossip Girl, Mutant X) has joined the cast of TNT’s upcoming drama pilot Agent X, TVWise has learned.
Shea, arguably best known for portraying Lex Luthor on the 1990s series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has been cast in Agent X as President Eckhart, a southern politician who was recently elected as President of the United States. Agent X, which is the latest drama project to receive a pilot order at TNT, is being headlined by Oscar winner Sharon Stone. Jeff Hephner (Chicago Fire) and Mike Colter (The Good Wife) also star.
Penned by The Bourne Identity scribe William Blake Herron, Agent X follows America’s first female Vice President, Natalie Maccabee (Sharon Stone), a woman with brains, beauty, and a cool composure that belies a restless mind. After the death of her husband, a Senate candidate, Natalie opted to run in his place. After a rapid rise as a political star, she now finds herself the newly elected Vice President of the United States. Initially apprehensive that her job will be ceremonial in nature, she soon learns that it comes with a Top Secret duty: protecting the Constitution in times of great crisis with the aid of her Chief Steward and a secret operative designated “Agent X” (Jeff Hephner). The drama pilot is being produced by Beacon Pictures with Armyan Bernstein serving as the executive producer.
