Candice Patton (The Game) and newcomer Carlos Valdes are the latest actors to board The CW’s The Flash pilot, TVWise has confirmed.
As first reported by Deadline, Patton has nabbed the female lead in the project and will play Iris West, the quick witted best friend of Barry Allen. Meanwhile, newcomer Valdes has been cast as Cisco Ramon, an engineering genius and the youngest member of the team of scientists at the STAR Labs. The two join a cast which also includes Grant Gustin (Arrow), Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries), Danielle Panabaker (Necessary Roughness) and Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order).
Based on the DC comic, The Flash is described as an origin story in the same vein of the WBTV/The CW series Arrow. The drama follows Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling City to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. The character, better known as The Flash, was recently introduced to viewers on the Winter finale of Arrow. The drama project is being produced by Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter serving as executive producers. Nutter is also attached to direct.
