Indefatigable British actor Stephen Fry has been cast in Fox’s upcoming 12 episode 24 event series Live Another Day, TVWise has confirmed.
As first reported by Deadline, The Hobbit alum Fry has been cast as Trevor Davies, the British Prime Minister whose friendship with President Heller (William Devane) comes under tremendous pressure because of a number of personal and political crises.
Penned by Howard Gordon & David Fury, 24: Live Another Day will be set and shot in London and follows the exploits of Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) who, now in exile, is being hunted by a CIA team when he learns of and attempts to thwart an unthinkable terrorist attack that could change the world forever. The limited event series, which Fox said could be followed by additional such entries in the coming years, is being produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Entertainment & Teakwood Lane Productions and stars Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver, William Devane, Benjamin Bratt, Giles Matthey, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Michael Wincott, Judy Davis, Tate Donovan and Yvonne Strahovski.
The news of Fry’s casting comes less than an hour after TVWise broke the news that 20th Century Fox Television was looking for an “established UK actor” to play the part of the British Prime Minister. Sources described the role to me as being “beefy” with the PM having a fair number of scenes with President Heller. As I also reported earlier this evening, another actor who was (very briefly) considered for the role was Buffy: The Vampire Slayer alum Anthony Head.
