FX has rounded out the cast for their upcoming drama pilot Hoke. Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones), John Carroll Lynch (Body of Proof), Robert Wisdom (The Wire), Jordi Mollà (In The Heart of the Sea) and Tammy Blanchard (Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows) have all joined the cast of the drama, which is being headlined by Paul Giamatti (John Adams).
Chaplin has been cast as Ellita Sanchez, a sharp young homicide detective recently promoted from dispatcher to Hoke’s (Paul Giamatti) new partner; Carroll Lynch as Bill Henderson, an old guard Miami PD detective and Hoke’s former partner who is equally as miserable in the recently diversified department; Wisdom as Major Brownley, the head of the Miami PD Homicide Squad who has a long history with Hoke and his antics; Mollà as Armando Zuniga, a Cuban refugee; and Blanchard as Loretta Hickey, the striking mother of a murdered drug addict who Hoke comes across while investigating the case.
Based on the series of novels by Charles Willeford and adapted for television by Scott Frank, Hoke is set in 1980s Miami and tells a story of mid-life crisis and murder that features the hardboiled and possibly insane homicide detective, Hoke Moseley (Giamatti). FX Productions are producing the pilot with Scott Frank, David Manson, Curtis Hanson, Carol Fenelon, Paul Giamatti and Dan Carey serving as executive producer. Frank is attached to direct and will serve as co-showrunner alongside Manson should the project receive a series order from FX.
