Following on from the trailer they released earlier this week, the BBC has also released an interactive trailer for the upcoming third season of the drama series Sherlock. Similar to the interactive trailer the BBC released earlier this year for Luther‘s final season, this trailer gives access to additional footage and photos.

Based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock was developed for television by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss and is described as a modern take on the Holmes stories. The drama series focusses on Holmes and Watson as they consult on cases, usually for the Metropolitan Police Service. Sherlock is produced by Hartswood Films and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Mark Gatiss, Rupert Graves and Una Stubbs. In the opening episode, titled The Empty Hearse, two years have passed since Holmes’ apparent death and Dr John Watson has moved on with his life. New horizons, romance and a comforting domestic future beckon. But, with London under threat of a huge terrorist attack, Sherlock Holmes is about to rise from the grave with all the theatricality that comes so naturally to him. It’s what his best friend wanted more than anything, but for John Watson it might well be a case of ‘be careful what you wish for’! If Sherlock thinks everything will be just as he left it though, he’s in for a very big surprise.
